Welcome Our New Veterinarians!

We are excited to welcome three new veterinarians to the team at Polk and Castro Animal Hospital! Each brings a unique background, a passion for veterinary medicine, and a shared commitment to providing compassionate, high quality care for every patient.

Meet Dr. Angela Boyer

Originally from Los Angeles, California, Dr. Angela Boyer earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Midwestern University. She enjoys building lasting relationships with clients and believes that educating pet owners is an important part of helping pets live long, healthy lives. Outside of the hospital, Dr. Boyer enjoys crocheting, knitting, sewing, exploring new restaurants, and spending time with her three cats.

Meet Dr. Marissa Monopoli

Dr. Marissa Monopoli is returning to the Bay Area after practicing in New York City. A graduate of the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine, she completed a rotating internship in general medicine and surgery and has special interests in radiology, ophthalmology, and wellness care. In her free time, she enjoys roller skating, yoga, cooking, and spending time with her cat, Stevie.

Meet Dr. Joanie Newland

Dr. Joan ("Joanie") Newland earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Midwestern University after completing her undergraduate studies in Animal Sciences at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. She is excited to be part of the Polk and Castro Animal Hospital team and looks forward to caring for pets throughout the community. Outside of work, she enjoys hiking, going to concerts, staying active, and spending time with family and friends.
